DESCRIPTION:Dec. 5\, 6:30 – 10pm: Modjeska Simkins Birthday Party. As we do every year\, the SC Progressive Network will hold a drop-in to celebrate Ms. Simkins\, who continues to inspire and inform our work. This year\, her birthday falls on our 1st-Thursday jazz workshop night. We will tell stories and share a glass of port (Modjeska’s favorite) between 6:30 and 7:30pm. At 8pm\, the USC jazz improv group New Horizons will perform\, followed at 9 by GROW’s own Just Us jazz workshop. The celebration is free and open to all. Please join us for a casual evening with friends.

DESCRIPTION:As American Christians turn to singing about the “Little Town of Bethlehem\,” Palestinian Christians (along with all Palestinians in the occupied territories) face a brutal reality under an apartheid system. We will hear from Carolina Peace Board Member Brittany Boone who recently traveled to the West Bank this Fall to assist with the Olive Harvest.
